You already have a 23andMe file. A DNA Story is a different reading of that same file. You do not buy a new kit, and nothing in your 23andMe account changes.

Get your 23andMe file
These steps match our 23andMe upload guide. If you already have the file, what to do with 23andMe raw data compares places to take it. A side-by-side with Genomelink is on that comparison.
- Sign in at 23andme.com. Open your profile name, then Resources, then Browse Raw Genotyping Data, then Download.
- Settings, then 23andMe Data, then View, also reaches the download. The direct page is you.23andme.com/tools/data/.
- 23andMe emails you when the file is ready. Our upload guide, following their help, says that is usually within about a week and can take up to 30 days.
- Download the zip and unzip it. The text file to use is the one whose name starts with genome.
Check the file free
The free file check runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. It accepts the zip or the genome text file inside it. It shows whether the file opens, that it came from 23andMe, the SNP count, and how many of 29 common trait markers it reads (taste, lactose, caffeine, sleep timing, and muscle fiber). It does not say what the markers mean.
The chip version changes which markers are in the file. 23andMe lists that version in Account Settings. Two 23andMe files need not cover the same spots. You send the file to us only after you buy, from the private link in the order email.

Limits
A DNA Story covers wellness traits. It does not include disease reports, and it does not replace a clinical test. Which markers a file contains depends on the chip and the download.
A likelihood is not a certainty. Sleep, food, activity, and the world around you all play a part. A medical question belongs with a clinician or a genetic counselor.
