What the numbers mean
The SNP count is how many SNP rows the file contains, including spots the file marks as no-calls. Chip and genome build are shown only when the file header names them.
The trait check looks for 29 common everyday-trait markers (taste, lactose, caffeine, sleep timing, and muscle fiber). The result says how many of those the file reads. A marker counts when the call is readable. This is a file-quality and trait-readiness check. It does not say what the markers mean for you.

Questions
Which raw DNA files can I check?
23andMe and AncestryDNA raw data are usually a .txt file, often inside a .zip. MyHeritage raw data is usually a .csv, and a .zip of that file works too. FamilyTreeDNA and LivingDNA raw files are recognized as well.
How do I download my raw file?
Request it from the company that tested you. The 23andMe steps are in our download guide. AncestryDNA and MyHeritage each have a guide on this site too. Use the original download, not a screenshot or a PDF.
Does my file get uploaded?
No. The check reads the file in your browser, on this device. It is not uploaded to My Gene Story. Your genotypes are not sent to us, and this page does not include them in analytics.
What do the everyday-trait markers mean?
The check looks for 29 common everyday-trait markers, including taste, lactose, caffeine, sleep timing, and muscle fiber. The result says how many of those your file reads. It is a file-quality and trait-readiness check, and it does not interpret the markers.
What if my file will not open?
Download the raw data file again from your testing company and drop that in. A .zip is fine. Sequencing files such as VCF are outside this check. The 23andMe guide shows the file you want.
